Disclosures: who pays us, and what we pay
Who we act for, how we're paid, and every payment connected with your deal.
Who we act for
- We act for the company that licenses its records. For an insolvent company, that's the office-holder, acting as the company's agent. We don't act for buyers.
How we're paid
- Selling with us:
- 12% of the licence money you receive;
- 8% on any part above £1m;
- a £2,500 minimum on deals of £20,000 or more;
- nothing unless a deal closes;
- no retainers;
- VAT where applicable.
- Insolvency estates:
- commission on realisations: 20% of the first £100,000, 15% to £500,000, 10% above;
- subject to any approval needed from creditors or a committee;
- disclosed to creditors;
- no sale, no fee.
- Optional paid review: a fixed fee by company size, if you ask for one. It's credited in full against our fee if you license through us within 12 months.
- Fees are agreed in writing before any work starts.
Buyers
- We don't charge buyers, and we don't ask them for referral rewards or commissions.
- If a buyer pays or offers any reward connected with your deal, we tell you in writing and pass it to you in full. For an estate, it's paid into the estate and disclosed to creditors.
Referral partners (accountants and solicitors)
- If a partner introduced you, we pay them 25% of our fee, out of our fee. You pay nothing extra.
- The partner tells you about it before or at the introduction, and it's in our engagement terms.
Insolvency practitioners
- We don't pay insolvency practitioners, their firms or their associates anything for an introduction or an appointment, and we don't offer them a referral share.
- If a referral partner's firm becomes office-holder of a company it introduced, the partner's share is paid into the estate and disclosed to creditors.
- Practice Insight, our regional insolvency report, is a flat subscription. It isn't linked to any appointment or introduction.
Other relationships
- On each case, before you commit, we disclose in writing any connection we have with the company, its directors, shareholders or creditors, the office-holder's firm, or a proposed buyer.
- We have no ownership interest in any buyer, and no exclusive arrangement with any buyer or insolvency firm.
AI tools
- We use AI tools to help us draft and analyse. A person at Record Yield approves anything we send to you or a buyer about your deal, and anything signed. We don't put your records into AI tools.
