Where to sell

Four ways to sell company data. When each one makes sense.

Going direct, listing on a marketplace, using a broker like us, or doing nothing. Each route suits different companies, so here's an honest comparison.

The four routes, side by side

Typical patterns, not guarantees. Timings depend on the data, the buyer and how quickly rights can be confirmed.

02 / Honest advice

When you shouldn't use a broker

A broker earns its fee by finding more buyers and handling the work. If neither helps you, don't pay for it.

  • You already have competing offers and in-house lawyers who've licensed data before. Go direct.
  • You're under about 25 staff or hold under two years of records. Most buyers won't bite yet, so wait.
  • You sell a structured data product that many customers buy repeatedly, such as prices or listings. A marketplace suits that better.
  • You can't confirm you own the data, or it's mostly client-confidential. Fix that first, with your lawyer.
